A notice issued here from the Desk of Chairman, SSC, says that the Commission is likely to publish the CGL tier 2 exam results on 28th Feb. The tier 3 exam will then be conducted on 19th March, 2017. Candidates may check their results today at the official website (www.ssc.nic.in) after the publication. However, in the past, SSC has delayed the results several times of it’s exams, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if CGL tier 2 results too get delayed. But the delay won’t be much, a day or two at maximum.

About CGL 2016 exam:

After notifying CGL 2016 on Feb 2nd, 2016, the commission had conducted the tier 1 exams between August 27 to September 11, 2016. The results of the tier 1 were then published in November and as it turned out, only 1,49,319 candidates qualified the tier 1 to appear for tier 2. The cut-off in tier 1 went as high as 137 for unreserved category candidates. The marks of tier 1 were published after a week of the results publication.

The commission has also released the answer keys for the tier 2 exam along with the response sheet of the candidates. The process to submit representations was carried out till 27 January, 2017.

Around 38 lakh candidates had registered for CGL 2016 and only 14.8 lakh had taken the tier 1. Out of those 14.8 lakh, only 1.49 lakh made the cut to next stage of the recruitment process i.e., tier 2 exam.

What’s next:

After the results of SSC CGL tier 2 exam, the tier 3 exam will be held on 19th March which will be descriptive type. The descriptive paper will be in Hindi/English and will be held in pen and paper mode. The tier 3 exam will consist of essay, letter and precise writing. The paper will carry maximum 100 marks. The word limit for essay writing will be 250 words and the paper will have 60 minutes duration.

The result date for tier 3 has not fixed yet by SSC and neither are the dates for tier 4 exam. The tier 4 will be will be Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)/Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

Tier 2 expected cut-off marks:

The cut-off for tier 2 is expected to be overall 440+ considering some factors. I’ve explained that in details in the other article (link given below) . The cut-off in tier 2 will be mostly affected by candidates’ performance in English section which was on moderate to difficult level. And expect lots of negative marking in English caused by unsure attempts of candidates which might result in the lower cut offs.

Have a look at the expected cut-off in tier 2 exam.

But then, candidates number is huge and vacancies are far less which might then result in the high cut offs. The average of the cut-offs will be out when SSC publishes the same but there are some factors cancelling out each other, making the prediction a bit tricky.
