Jaipur Literature Festival to be held between January 19- 23

Hailed as a confluence of ideas, thoughts and literature, the Jaipur Literature Festival has announced the dates for its upcoming edition. To be held from January 19 to 23, 2017 this will be the festival’s 10th edition. Having hosted a string of illustrous public figures like Margaret Atwood, Mohammed Hanif, Oprah Winfrey, OrhanPamuk, Pico Iyer, Salman Rushdie, Stephen Fry, Thomas Piketty, Vikram Seth
among many others, this year’s edition promises to be nothing different. With ideas, thoughts, literature and culture running through its veins, JLF 2017 will–like every year–be held at Jaipur’s Diggi Palace and will reportedly, celebrate 70 years of the Indian democracy. This year’s sessions will focus on the relevance of history in shaping the present and future. In order to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the JLF planned to announce 10 speakers every week. The initiallineup for JLF 2017 included names like Mark Haddon, David Hare and Man Booker Prize winners Alan Hollinghurst and Richard Flanagan as well as archaeologist, Barry Cunliffe.

According to the announcement made , the upcoming Jaipur Literature Fest (JLF) will also have internationally acclaimed poet Anne Waldman, award-winning British poet and novelist Ruth Padel, British writer and journalist Simon Winchester.

The names announced this week include Hindi author Narendra Kohli, Vikram Chandra, Italian writer and publisher Roberto Calasso, Scottish art historian Neil MacGregor and American journalist Dexter Filkins.

Indian lyricist-playback singer Swanand Kirkire and British-Bangladeshi writer Tahmima Anam will also be among the speakers at the fest.
